CHRIST-CENTERED

In all its levels, programs, and curriculum, Wisdom Tree seeks to:

 A. To teach all subjects as parts of an integrated whole with God’s revealed truth at the center
(II Timothy 3:16-17);

 B. Provide a clear model of the Christian life through our staff (Matthew 22:37-40);

 C. Encourage every child to begin and develop their individual relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20, Matthew 19:13-15).

 CLASSICAL
In all its levels, programs, and curriculum, Wisdom Tree seeks to:

 A. Emphasize grammar, logic, and rhetoric in all subjects (see definitions below);

 B. Encourage every child to develop a love for learning and live up to his and her individual academic potential;

 C. Provide an orderly atmosphere conducive to the attainment of the above goals.

 Definitions:

Grammar: The fundamental rules of each subject. Logic: The ordered relationship of particulars in each subject.
Rhetoric: How the grammar and logic of each subject may be clearly expressed.

CAMPUS LOCATION
Wisdom Tree is a ministry under Cold Springs Community Church located at 2600 Cold Springs Road, Placerville, California 95667.

Children meet for classes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30am to 3:00pm, and are home schooled on Tuesday and Thursday.  Parents stay closely involved with teaching by completing the practice materials the children bring home on Monday and Wednesday.  Our expectation is for home study to include four hours of school for both Tuesday and Thursday.  Included in the program is a daily reading requirement from the Wisdom Tree Literature List.  Most parents are able to complete the home activities early in the day and then plan enrichment activities for the afternoons.

WHAT IS CLASSICAL EDUCATION?
Classical education has two parts. The first is content and the second is skills. Classical education is the study of the best that has been thought and said. The second aspect is the study of liberal arts. Classical educators focus on the Western Civilization which is made up of three things: Athens, Jerusalem, and Rome. Why is this important? To study the culture of the Hebrews is to learn about how God deals with men and nations. Regarding Greece, almost every great philosophical and literary iead can be trace back to some Greek thinker. Unlike the Greeks, the Romans knew how to organize and govern. Many of our political beliefs and practices have a Roman origin.

The second aspect of classical educaqtion, the liberal arts, is the set of academic skills that prepare a person to learn and do anything. In the minds of classical thinkers, there were seven intellectual skills. The first three of them - logic, grammar, and rhetoric - termed the "trivium", were language skills. Classical education seeks a renewed emphasis on the permanent things in education: the truths about God, men, and the world that are dealt with in great literature of Western culture. It also strives to instill in children those intellectual habits that are summed up the seven liberal arts.
