WISDOM TREE CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP
Partners with Parents
Wisdom Tree’s discipline policy is designed to provide a relaxed, respectful, and positive classroom and playground environment for everyone.
WARNING
The children will be warned once that their behavior is inappropriate. The staff member will explain why the child’s choice was inappropriate.
PINK SLIP
If the inappropriate behavior persists, a pink slip will be given. The slip needs to be signed by the parent and returned the next day. If the slip isn’t returned, the child will serve a lunchtime detention or time-out.
CALL HOME
The parents are called by the Director at the next class recess. The child persists in poor choices or fails to return the discipline slip.
LUNCHTIME DETENTION
The child continues to persist in inappropriate behavior. The child eats in a separate classroom and remains in that class for the entire lunch period.
CONFERENCE WITH PARENTS
The parents and child meet with the director to create a behavior plan to remediate poor-choice behavior.
IN-CLASS SUSPENSION
If a child disrupts the classroom learning environment, he or she will be sent to the Director’s class or the church’s office to sit out the remainder of the class period. The child is responsible for all the work that was assigned. Parents will be called immediately and a conference will be held after school.
OUT OF SCHOOL SUSPENSION
In some cases, the parents will be called to take the child home for the day or requested to keep the child home for a period of time. If this occurs, a parent conference will be held to determine if Wisdom Tree Christian Fellowship is the best learning environment for the child.
A Summary of the Behavior Consequences
If classroom concerns arise, the principles found in Scripture, especially in Matthew 18, are to be followed by everyone involved. Difficult situations are compounded when they are shared among people who are not part of the solution. Self-examination of motives and attitudes should precede attempts to correct a problem. A spirit of gentleness is expected when approaching people with concerns. In the event of a classroom concern, parents should:
1. Meet privately with the classroom teacher to discuss the problem.
2. After meeting with the classroom teacher, if the concern is not resolved, meet with the Director to discuss the concern. If resolution is not achieved -
3. Write a letter to the administrative pastor including a clear statement of the grievance, the current status, and the settlement desired. The Pastor will discuss the problem and then contact the parties involved regarding resolution.
If a parent has a concern with another child or parent, that parent should approach the other parents involved and the Director to discuss the concern.
